Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Wales and is currently Head of Post Graduate programmes at the University of Wales, Newport Business School. He is a visiting lecturer at Cardiff University specialising in the commercialisation of knowledge. A founder member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Professional Body Board Jonathan has been active within the CIM at branch (chair) and regional level for 10 years and within the Academy of Marketing as a member of the steering groups for the SIG Entrepreneurial and Small Business Marketing and the MIG Small Business Marketing. He has recently been elected as a Fellow of the institute.
He is a member of the American Marketing Association and a member of the AMA SIG Marketing at the Entrepreneurship Interface. Jonathan has published academic and practitioner related work both in Europe and the US with a focus upon Market Development for Small Firms. However he has had a life before academia – having founded his first firm at 17. He has personal experience of start up, fast growth and consultancy activities and retains an interest in a number of successful Welsh knowledge based companies.
For relaxation he ‘enjoys’ adventure sports.
Mike Mahoney - Vice Chair

Mike has over 20 years human resource management experience having successfully started up and been involved in the growth of two major companies in HR areas.
His experience is wide ranging and includes recruitment, selection, human resource implementation, business management and search and selection.
Mike has a 'can do' mindset, drive and enthusiasm with a clear commitment to working in true partnership with our clients. His work in both the public and private sectors generates positive feedback in the delivery of his promises.
Kara studied Mathematics at Cardiff University, gaining a 2.1 with honours, before moving into the exciting world of accountancy. She completed her training and became a qualified chartered accountant whilst working for Grant Thornton where she moved up through the ranks from Audit Assistant to Audit Senior.
Kara then worked as Audit Manager at HWCA Limited (formerly Haines Watts)and it was at this time that she had the opportunity to join the committee of the Newport Business Club.
Kara now works as a Senior Manager at Ellis Lloyd Jones Chartered Accountants and has recently become the Treasurer of the Newport Business Club.
Neil is secretary of CoNBC, having joined the Committee in 2004.

Neil’s main hobby is following Cardiff City FC, where he is a season ticket holder having supported them since 1967! He also likes eating out.
Janine Dance - Social Secretary
Janine works in the Economic Development Team for Newport City Council as their Inward Investment Project Officer working with companies to help them start-up or re-locate to Newport and employ local people.
Prior to this role Janine worked for many years in the Private Sector as an Account Manager for Pirelli Cables after starting her working career at Oyster Terminals.
Janine spends her leisure time playing many sports badly and theatre-going.

Geraint is acting Client Services Director for nawr, an integrated marketing agency based near Newport.
Geraint comes from a marketing, consultancy & mixed business background, having previously worked with the likes of Microsoft, Erickson, Avaya, ntl, NTT DoCoMo, Blackhorse, Accenture, PersiCo, Argos, GUS & Pfizer
Geraint holds an MA in Marketing and Chartered Marketer Status, in conjunction with an industry standard PRINCE 2 Practitioner qualification.
Geraint is currently pursuing his PhD in Welsh global brand identity.

Janet Harris - Membership Secretary
Former radio presenter in the West Country, Janet returned home in 1995 to take up a position with the South Wales Argus. In 2000 joined the commercial team of Newport Rugby as Commercial Manager. In January 2003 Janet set up her own consultancy working primarily for Newport Chamber of Commerce (Ngb2b) and in August 2005 also entered in to a partnership with her former commercial counterpart of Llanelli Scarlets Ross Evans to form EH Sportsconsultancy. Working with a number of well known sporting icons including Scott Quinnell, Ross and Janet are now currently working on a number of initiatives relating to linking primary school education and sport, and also assisting smaller clubs to maximize their ‘off the field’ activity .For further information visit their web site ehsportsconsultancy.co.uk.
