Our last event on 13th May was a very light-hearted affair, with comedian Rob Woodward providing great entertainment in his Italian guise.
28th January 2010 we welcomed James Sommerin, the Michelin-starred Head Chef of The Crown at Whitebrook, and The Crown at Celtic Manor.
James gave an inspiring master class, cooking two delicious dishes, whilst taking questions from the audience via compere Neil Cammies, Wine Correspondent for The Western Mail.
James answered all kinds of questions on his past, his preferences and his future, and the only pity was that time ran out too soon! James also brought a sample chocolate dessert for all diners to try - which went down very well!
26th November 2009
The Welsh National Opera gave a very entertaining performance on presenation skills, providing an interactive demonstration on how to impress and audience with voice and body language. The key factors of pace, pitch and pause were stressed, and most of the audience would have taken the tips away with them to use in their work environments.
Look out for another WNO presentation next season!
24th September 2009
Wales and British Lion Jamie Roberts took part in an extensive question and answer session. Jamie explained how his life has changed dramatically since being named Player of The Series for the Lions in South Africa during the summer.
The audience was captivated as he also divulged interesting snippets of information about his day to day training, and playing experiences.
14th May 2009
We were delighted to welcome BBC's Scrum V pundit, Rick O'Shea, for what was a hugely entertaining and enlightening evening!
Rick qualified with a degree in Sport and Human Movement from South Glamorgan Institute (now UWIC). He then moved back to Cornwall where he worked as medical representative, and played for Penzance and Newlyn.
After his playing days ended, he started working for BBC Radio Cornwall as a reporter and occasional commentator, before returning to Cardiff in 1999 to buy the Cameo Club with two friends from college, Rhodri Williams and Huw Davies.
Subsequently, Rhodri Jones, producer of BBC Wales Sportstime, was in need of freelancers to cover games during the heavy schedule of Celtic League, and so Rick started with BBC Wales in the autumn of 2001.
19th February 2009 - Andy Pag
Andy Pag, the Eco-Adventurer who drove a chocolate powered lorry to Timbuktu, gave a great insight into his career, with a very entertaining slide show.
Andy's expertise in the science and sociology of sustainable energy shone through, but he also explained the need to be able to change a lorry clutch by the side of the road with a couple of old spanners and a piece of rope!
27th November 2008
With the gathering gloom of winter, and the worsening economic climate, we thought everyone needed a lift at our final event for 2008.
So putting his own slant on the recession, credit crunch, and other matters was Edward Hugh McGinnis, better known as Eddie Large.
Eddie entertained a good-sized audience with plenty of stories and old gags given a modern twist. Feedback was very positive, and we hope to line up more speakers like Eddie in the future.
